post 3 brynn lachenmaier

Today I soldered my wire to make the three ring one. I also painted my board that I'm putting my wire on. The biggest problem I had was trying to figure out how to make the wire stand up. The 2 circles on the bottom are stable enough to stand up on their own, but the top circle is to heavy to hold itself. I solved the problem by changing it to a mobile. Now it's using gravity instead of working against gravity. Next I will put drywall anchors into the 4 corners of the board. Then I will make wire hooks and put it onto the anchors. Last it will go on the ceiling.

blog post 2 brynn Lachenmaier

  1. Today I drilled holes in my base so that I can put wire in the holes. I am also finishing my 5 rings since I only have 3 done. The biggest problem I had was trying to get the measurements right on where I drilled my holes on the base. It was also a struggle to find the right size to make the holes. My solution to the problem was figuring out the size of the wire. Then I took the size of the wire, and found the closest size tip the the size of the wire. Next I will attach all of the wire circles together.

  1. Today I am working on my base for the wire sculpture. Adding texture to the board. Then when it's dry I am going to punch holes in the board so I can place the wire. The bigest problen I had was being able to twist the wire tight. I needed the wire to be tight so the ring would not fall apart. My salution to the problem was I took a took to get a better grip on the wire since its small. then I used the same tool to push the wire threw the bigger wire so that it would stay in place. Next class I will work on finishing up all five wire rings. I will also drill holes in my base so that I can attach the wire to the board.
